Charter (indented) by which Hugh Moreton, mayor of Congleton, with the assent of the burgesses and community of the said town, gives and confirms to Alexander Lathum one parcel of land lying within the lordship of Congleton, between the land of Sir Lawrence Fyton, knight, of the one part and the highway of the other part and which they have by the gift of Robert Arkelyde; to have and to hold the said land with its appurtenances to the aforesaid Alexander his heirs and assigns forever, paying annually to the aforesaid Hugh, mayor of the said town and to the mayors successors there for the time existing, seventeen pence of money at the two terms of the year, namely the feast of the nativity of St John Baptist [24 June] and St Martin in the winter [11 November], by equal portions.
Witnesses: Philip Grene then bailiff of the said town, Hugh Grene mercer, John Arkelyde, Hugh Grene draper, John Honkynson, and others.
